Soniah and Blueboy - a couple of bad asses.

Concept ArtPosted by Anders Backlund Fri, May 14, 2010 11:51:36

This first pic is Soniah from my script, The Talents, that I might turn it into a grafic novel some day. Anyway, I made this for this weeks challenge at the Design A Character challenge at deviantart.com. If you're an artist who's into character design, I can really recommend that group, it's a blast.

This next pic is of Blueboy, a character from Drew Blanks, 'Memoirs of an Antihero. It's a novel about a vigilante, beating up bad guys and taking their money, to cover his daughters medical expenses. Blueboy is the baddest bad guy.

Heart warming ass kicking.

You can find bigger versions of both pictures under Concept art in the 'portfolio' -->

4 hour comic

IllustrationsPosted by Anders Backlund Thu, April 22, 2010 17:40:36

Yes.. I crumbled under the pressure and caved in half way. Man... If Jack Bauer can travel around the world, beat up bad guys, uncover splinter cells and save the world from newclear devastation in just under 24 hours, you'd think I'd be able to throw down a couple of comicbook pages in 8.

I didnt wanna come up with a theme myself so I decided to google themes from previous years and take the first one I stumbled upon. It was 'Black Forrest'. I made four pages (well four and a half) in four hours. Just to give you a reference, a professional comic penciller makes about one page a day ( so that's why mine suck:) )

If you wanna know more about this sort of thing: http://www.scottmccloud.com/4-inventions/24hr/index.html

HERE it is. Just press the arrow to go to the next page.

8 hour comic

SketchesPosted by Anders Backlund Thu, April 22, 2010 09:59:53

This is todays warmup for the 8 hour comic. Which means trying to make an 8 page long comic in 8 hours, as simple as it sounds=). I've tried this once before (it was a 24hour comic) but i didnt even do 3 pages i think, cause my hand started to hurt real bad. I tend to grip my pen real tight when im under pressure, so ill try to keep that in mind this time and hope it'll go better. The event starts in an hour so i better go stock up on microwave dinners, snacks and stuff.
